Sledge and Snow

A very short (33 word) piece on Personification for the Trifecta Weekend Challenge

Sledge rattles against the garage shelf. Rising and falling with the wind.Straining to be free.

Snow falls clumpily, urgently, heavily.

Sledge breathes, sighs, waits impatiently for his first outing of the year.

Comments

  1. The first outing in the snow is always the most exciting. Such anticipation. This reminds of the dogs wanting to go outside each morning :)

  2. sledge=sled? :) I can feel the impatience of it.

  3. It can be hell waiting the whole year for something.

  4. Despite how freakin’ cold it has been here (in Cobourg, Ontario) this winter, we have had only one dump of snow! So, our sleds have only had their one time out for the season and, all other days, as you so accurately stated, they have hung sadly in the garage, unused, neglected, abandoned. Not certain if people in the Tropics will get your poem but, from where I am sitting, you hit it bang on! Well done.

  5. How interesting to think of the sled straining to get out to play in the snow:-)Loved it.

  6. Brrrr. I remember being excited about it as a child. And ever since then I’ve made sure to not live in it. :-) Thanks so much for linking up this weekend!

  7. I liked how you showed the tension and frustration of the sledge impatiently waiting to go out and have fun. I can image the child looking out the window at the snow and feeling the same thing.
    Nice Job. :)

  8. Ah, I used to love riding sleds in the snow! Now I’m content staying inside with a warm blanket (:

  9. Sledge and my son share the same enthusiasm.

  10. kymminbarcelona says:

Nicely transmitted feeling of impatient restraint.

  11. As excited as the ridee… nice. (I know that’s not really a word)

  12. Wow…beautiful! I can feel it!
